It was quite hectic planning out Fashion Mavericks that I never had enough time to make a post, its was a lot easier tweeting unfortunately. Well not too worry The Big Event is over and now i've got some form of time allowance available to post. Yippie!!!
Sometimes days are slow but most times when we look back we realise that the day passes so quickly right in front of our very eyes. 40 days may seem like a while away but so much has happened that it seems like it was only yesterday that I wrote my last post.
Well to start off, one of the biggest disasters to hit the world was the Haiti Earthquake. The earthquake happened on Tuesday, 12 January and by February 12th, an estimated three million people were affected by the quake; with reports stating between 217,000 and 230,000 people had been identified as dead, and 300,000 injured, and a staggering 1,000,000 homeless. Charities, celebrities and the worldwide public have been gathering together to raise aid, funds and send in donations to help the country through this difficult time.
The fashion industry has been quite proactive in raising awareness of the helpless with the Fashion For Haiti initiative set up by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Naomi Campbell's Fashion for Relief charity.
Another great shock to move the world is the death of Alexander McQueen. At only 40 years old Lee, as he was known to close friends and family committed suicide in his London home on February 11th 2010 where he was found dead in his wardrobe by the housekeeper.
On a lighter note Fashion Mavericks kicked off at London Fashion Week on 19th February 2010. Still awaiting some images but here's a few to give you a little taster of how it was in case you missed it.
More catwalk shows to follow soon.
